Community Involvement
|
Every day, hundreds of exciting opportunities for Pinellas County school students take place because the members of the community care enough to get involved. School volunteers have discovered that spending time and sharing talents with students is an energizing and worthwhile experience. As you share your time and skills, students' lives can change. Seeing students reach their potential in the classroom and grow as individuals is a wonderful benefit of being a school volunteer.
Tutors: Tutors assist students either on an individual basis or in small groups. Placements are made with students from kindergarten through high school.
Mentors: Mentors work with struggling students. By serving as role models, mentors can provide encouragement and friendship to a student needing to build self-esteem.
SAC: SAC (School Advisory Council) members are selected by individual schools to function as resources to assist in developing school improvement goals.
Volunteer orientation and training is available. You select your placement, the school, the day and the time of your volunteer activity.
